What ten bucks will buy.

You can buy a much needed reminder of home for our troops. During the holidays a nice sum of money was raised for Operation Sauce Drop, the program that delivers spicy and flavorful sauces to our hard-working troops. People donating money for this cause, had the Christmas spirit in their hearts, and felt good about being able to contribute something to thank our troops for their sacrifice. These brave men and women fight daily to ensure our freedom, the least we could do is send them a box of sauces. A little zing, added to their bland military food, is a small reminder of home, and a welcome respite.

The problem is, that feeling was lost after the holidays, and now there are no gift boxes filled with bottles of thank you’s, atta boys, or, we appreciate you’s. Sad isn’t it? You would think that a mere ten dollars could be parted with, even after the holidays. Unfortunately that is not the case. The Operation Sauce Drop fund is now empty, leaving our troops with no
"taste of home."

One ten-dollar donation is matched by the Carolina Sauce Company, which is enough to send, worthy military personnel, one lovely gift box filled with spicy sauces to jazz up even the blandest of food.

The following is an update sent from Gloria Cabada-Leman, owner of the Carolina Sauce Company.

Thanks to the generosity of a repeat donor, we were able to mail 15 more gift boxes yesterday, bringing to 498 the total number of free gift boxes sent to our troops serving abroad. Despite these tough economic times, the Carolina Sauce Company continues to match 100% of all donations, and to cover all incidental expenses and donate the labor involved in order to keep sending our brave servicemen and women a free gift of zesty sauces to add some flavor – and a taste of home – to their chow. Unfortunately, donations have slowed down too barely a trickle (more like an occasional drop of rain in a very large empty bucket), and our waiting list of troops signed up to receive a free gift box of sauce has grown to 320. The average cost to purchase and ship a free gift box of sauce to a deployed soldier is about $20. Because we match all donations, a mere $10 donation is all it takes to let a soldier know you care (check out the thank you notes & photos on our OSD Feedback page: http://carolinasauce.com/OSDfeedback.htm). And just $5 gets us halfway to sending a free gift box, which is also a big help. Another way to support Operation Sauce Drop while treating yourself to something delicious is to Shop to Support Operation Sauce Drop, where *the entire price* of the product you purchase is donated directly to Operation Sauce Drop: http://carolinasauce.stores.yahoo.net/shhetosuopsa.html. Below are the updated statistics for Operation Sauce Drop: Statistics as of 3/8/09

Number of Gift Boxes shipped: 498
Waiting List for Gift Boxes: 320 Troops*
Number of Donors: 132 (plus anonymous contributors to a cash donations jar)
Number of "Repeat" Donors (donated 2 or more times): 10
Most Requested Gift Box: North Carolina Gift Box

Reach deep folks, the troops are counting on us, let’s make certain they are thanked for their unwavering aide.

What a great cause!

What a great cause!

God Bless Troops

As a former soldier we greatly appreciate it when people go out of their way to give us stuff, it is like a spark of hope as many of us get suicidal and lose hope when we are away from our family for such a long period. Don From telescopes for sale
